General Details

Description THIS EVENT IS CPD CERTIFIED This seminar will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future for general practice in England. With the Prime Minister recently setting out a 5-year funding plan for the NHS, delegates will discuss what further measures can be taken to improve recruitment and retention rates in the sector. In light of Government targets to increase GP numbers by 5,000 by 2020, discussion will focus on the progress of schemes such as the International GP Recruitment Programme, which aims to recruit 2,000 overseas doctors over the next three years. The discussion also takes place with concerns about declining GP numbers and the impact of visa policy on applications. Those attending will consider what more might be done to tackle the rising cost of GP indemnity, following the Secretary of State’s announcement of plans to develop a state-backed indemnity scheme for GPs - as well as the impact of professional regulation reform, with the conference expected to follow the Department of Health and Social Care’s response to its consultation Promoting professionalism, reforming regulation. The seminar also comes as an independent review into the GP partnership model is announced - which will look at how the partnership model needs to evolve, with continued benefits for both GPs and patients. Further planned sessions examine key measures from the new GP contract - including next steps for completing the roll out of the Electronic Prescription Service and the full implementation of the e-Referral Service.
